The Murphy Studio is a design-led brand specialising in bespoke wallpapers, surface patterns,

and hand-crafted motifs rooted in artistry and storytelling. We blend traditional hand painting

techniques with contemporary design for luxury interior spaces.
 

Role Overview
 

We are looking for a passionate Fine Artist who loves hand painting and creating intricate motifs

for wallpapers and surface designs. This role is ideal for a fresh graduate or early-career artist

with strong artistic skills and basic digital exposure.
 

Key Responsibilities
 

• Create hand-painted motifs, florals, patterns, and artwork for wallpaper collections

• Translate concepts into detailed hand artwork for scanning and digitisation

• Assist in developing repeat patterns for surface design

• Work closely with senior designers to execute creative themes

• Refine artwork for print readiness with basic Illustrator support

• Maintain artwork quality, detailing, and consistency
 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hand painting & illustration skills (watercolour, gouache, ink, acrylics, etc.)

• A solid portfolio showcasing hand-painted artwork & motifs

• Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (vector clean-up, minor edits, repeats)

• Good understanding of colour, composition, and detailing

• Willingness to learn surface pattern & wallpaper design
 

Preferred

• Exposure to textile, wallpaper, or surface design projects

• Art / Design / Fine Arts background
